St Martins Primary School

Carré Consultancy were appointed by the Whinless Down Academy Trust to design, procure and manage vital fire safety improvements at The St Martins School in Dover. To ensure the full scope of works could be completed we also assisted in obtaining funding for the project via the Government’s ‘Condition Improvement Fund’ (CIF) grant scheme.

Utilising our experience with fire safety and grant funded projects, we were able to formulate a broad project brief which would include; Replacement Fire Doors & Glazed Screens, New Fire Alarm & Detection Systems, Emergency Lighting upgrades and an External Ramp Structure to provide a means of escape from the existing School Hall fire escapes.

To ensure compliance with the chosen funding stream, Carré Consultancy worked with the school to define an evidenced project need, prepared all required designs technical information and obtained price certainty though a competitive tender; this resulted in a successful funding application and the works being carried out during the following Summer Holiday Period.

Carré Consultancy were on hand throughout the project acting in the role of Contract Administrators, managing the complexities of carrying out works to every part of the school building while enabling important school management activities to continue in a limited capacity.
